CS DISK 383 to 385

For once I'm at a complete loss for words to describe these disks. Originally they were called SNOWY RIVER. They were done by Banjo Paterson from OZ. On Disk 383 there's geoVIEW plus 4 files - SNOWY RIVER 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D. They are in geoPaint format, and they tell a story about a horse. Great you might think, but on Disk 384, the files are 2A, 2B etc. The story is the same, the only difference being the size of the (printed) horse, and a larger point sized font. This again repeats itself on disk 385 3A, 3B etc with the horse being smaller. If any member buys these disks, please let me know if I've missed anything.

A variety of programmes on this disk, from a game MAHJONG, to geoPaint files COMPUTER 1, 2 and 3 - COMPUTERCHIP 1, 2 and 3. To several different Write files.

Way back last August (I think it was), I reviewed some disks from Doreen

Horne, PCX conversions they were. I've since come across some more. They are - XCAREBEAR, XCHRISTN, EASTER2/1 and EASTER. With two geoPAINT files GEOTIPS 1.2 and GEOTIPS 2.1.

More of Doreen's work, this time the theme is Christmas. (Oooops, I'm a bit too late) - There's a variety of pics, some of which are - BORDER2 & 3, KIDTREE, SANDSK, BOW4, NUTCRACKER, BUGLE etc. Once again Doreen, my apologies.

This first disk was sent in by Malcolm Brumbley of SA, and is about Meteorlogy & Communication. This is a very informative disk, great for anyone with kids.

This next disk was sent in by Robert Lord of Vic, and has a very good application on it called GeoShowFilm. Which is an app which will show a film, even thou the doc is in German, you should have no problems using this app. And with a little work you could come up with your own films.

CS DISK 391 & 392

This is Doreen Horn's latest PCX Converter. V4 is a converter which automatically deals with selected files without any further input from the user. She has also done a V3B which should now work with all vintages of C64 compatible drives. This program runs from basic only.

These next 2 disks where sent in by Peter Hunt. On this disk there are 42 PCX files that have been converted. Which are Cartoon type pictures in screen size, from people to animals, and are very good.

You may of read the articles in geoNews "Looking at Geos". Well heres the for you to print out yourself. As these files are in SEQ format, and if you want to use them in geoWrite you will need to convert them with a program called Wrong is Write (see Compilation Disk 5). There are also some geoPaint files: Computer 1, 2 & 3, Computer Chip 1 & 2. These have been converted from Handy scanner format.

These next 2 disk where sent in by Jeff Carey of SA, it's a basic disk with mixed programmes on it. From a Font maker to a Raster Design. There are also the following Geos files: GEOFORMAT 1.3 - a fast formatter; SCREEN GRABBER - grab graphics from the screen.

Ever wanted a Hard Drive, but couldn't afford one. Then this disk may be the answer. 64Net is a program that allows you to connect and use an old IBM PC. It allows you to access any floppy drives, hard drives removable drives and even an CD-Rom! You can have upto 4 C64 connected, and it will also allow you to use GEOS. All the info you need is on this disk. To read the 64 Net Info file, type Load"DIRECTORY 64",8 then RUN. Also on this disk are a few geos app's: QUICKVIEW - Dump write files to screen; TEXT PRINT V1.2 - Will print your docs using your printers resident fonts; PHOTOVIEW - Peek into photo scraps; SPELLCHECKER - for use with geoWrite files; NOTES->ALBUM - places your NotePad notes into an album.

From Colin J Thomson donated this disk FUN MENU, it is for the 64 and I beleive it is for playing music. There is a geoWrite doc file on the disk.

A mixture of pics and write files - geoVIEW to look at ROOM (just a corner!), TABLE (half a table!), SURVIVAL with Garfield, FENCE (just a fence!), DRAWS (defies description!), ZODIAC, the zodiac signs illustrated, HOLIDAY ART, excellent, easily the winner on this disk. As usual, some pics are only screen size.

Just as soon as I realised that the graphics on this disk were done by Peter McGUINN from New Zealand, I knew that I was in for a treat. geoView to look at - A4 BORDER 1, 2 & 3 - These are really excellent borders. JUNGLE BOOK - knowing just how good Peters graphics are, the only word that I can use is excellent. SANTA'S 1, EASTER 1, are two more excellent pieces of work from Peter. SHADOWS - pictures in silhouette form. PCX TO geoPAINT - this final file on this disk completes a really good buy. Thank You Peter.

A disk with a difference, it's a COOK BOOK!. The files range from TITLE PAGE, and include HORS D'OEUVERES/SAUCES, MAIN COURSES, DESSERTS & CAKES, SNACKS & BISCUITS AND JAMS - also all the font's that are used. This disk originates from FAITH CITY, and as well as the recipes, there's several Religious quotes. So, if any member buys this disk, please don't forget to send us some Bikkies!!.

The only way that I can describe this disk is to say that it's a right mixture of stuff. QUICK VIEW and TEXT PRINT are old favourites. It's not very often these day's that I 'enthuse' about some of the geoPaint pictures that came my way, but the pictures on this disk really are excellent. These geoPaint files original come from Dick Estel in the States, being passed on to me by Dave Elliott, they are all very good, try them out and see for yourself: DINOS 95-1 to DINOS 95-4 - full page info and picture of Dinos; RHINOCEROS 1 & 2 - as the previous file, but this time it's about Rhino's; Finished of by a pic called AZTC CALENDER.
